Foodie Diaries in Salzburg

Salzburg

Hello guys! I am back with new blog, reviews and comments from my previous escapades in Salzburg. As of this time, my mind is still in Salzburg eventhough I am back at work. Who would not fall in love with this city? Oder?

Well, this blog is to rate and reviews some of the places and foods (popular or not), which I have tried and (not yet) in my few days in Salzburg.

📌Afro Cafe

The place is cozy, with different colorful tables and chairs outside and an African vibe inside the Cáfe that makes you want to sit and dine in. You can find this place near Moderne Museum Salzburg. They served different kinds of coffee and teas originated in Africa that you can indulged your self during Breakfast,Brunch or anytime of the day. But one thing that leveled up this Cáfe is that they served African Cuisine. They also have Mittagsmenü (lunch menu). Is the food great? Definitely! If you don’t feel to eat heavy they offer also burgers and sandwiches.

My bad! I forgot the name of this dish that I ordered. hehehe

📌 Resch und Frisch

A well known Bäckerei for over 100 years, founded by Georg Resch, serving different kinds of Breads ( as you know, EU has a lot of different kinds of bread). They offer freshly baked big sizes of Brezel. It is a must try. You can find them along the Residenzplatz. So you can drop by to grab some Brezel and continue to explore the place.

📌Stiftsbäckerei St.Peter

Quick story: As I was passing by to go to St. Peter Abbey, I smell something really good and smells like bread that was baked so I searched for it, and so here I found out this bakery. This was established 800 years back and known as the Oldest Bäckerei in Salzburg. Breads are baked originally in wood stove and made from pure natural sour dough. They offer only 3 kinds of bread: Gewürzwerckel, Vintschgerl and Milchbrot (Milk bread) or Brioche mit Rosinen. Besides the bäckerei is the Mühle ( water mill) that is still running. There is actually nothing special on bread but the smell of it while baking makes you want to drop by and try it. Freshly baked breads are your weakness oder? You can find them near St.Peter Abbey.

📌 Cáfe Furst gegrun.1884

Founded by Salzburg confectioner, PAUL FÜRST, Inventor of the well known MozartKugel, created the today world famous Praline, made of pistachio, nougat und marzipan (almond paste), wrapped in chocolate coating. The Cafe offers different kinds of Torte ( Cakes) and Austrian classic coffee. Here you can buy the Original Salzburger MozartKugel. Chocolate lovers and alike is a must to drop by and try this one. You can find their Cafe Shop near Residenzplatz and the other one is near Mirabellplatz.

📌Cafe Mozart

This Cafe is considered to be one of the oldest Cáfes in Salzburg. It was originally a popular meeting place of writers and musicians (Mozart’s alike) and later on the legendary Mozart Chess Club. The place had a vibrant red interiors and it plays music most likely composed by the popular Wolfgang Mozart. They caters different kinds of Tortes (Cakes) and Austrian Coffee and savory dishes. But what makes them popular is the Salzburg Nockerl, a sweet dessert made of fluffy egg whites with a typical layer of Cranberry Jam and the popular Austrian sweet delicacy, the Apple Strudel.( I have not tried the Salzburg Nockerl but I can assure you that it was popular because most of the customers are ordering it at that time.) Located at the heart of Salzburg ( Getreidgasse Straße) near Mozart´s Birthplace.

This is the vibe inside the Cáfe.( Have you seen Mozart above? 😄😄)
What fascinates me is that they served your order in a steel plate 😁 and even the cup is designed with the face of Mozart
As you can see, I have to take out the Applestrudel that I ordered because I was so full. Their Applestrudel was so tasty, the dough is not thick and there is a generous amount of apples and it was so crisp. Plus the vanilla sauce was enough to covered the whole portion of Apple Strudel. Not to dry but not too soggy.😋

There are a lot of recommendations but I have not tried them at all. So I may add some of it here.

📍Try the BOSNA in Balkan-Grill near Mozart’s Birthplace

:📍Try Beer Garden Augustiner Braugasthof Krimpelstätter

: 📍Cafe Alchemy

: 📍Cafe Tomaselli

Small Tip for Souvenirs and alike.Instead buying a t-shirt or caps or ref magnet as a souvenir, why make it a unique one like my recommendations:

Buy some of this World-Class Marmalade
Salt as “White Gold” from Dürrnberg and flowed in Salzach River
Paintings of different sizes which is on the spot painted by artist along the Residenzplatz. Amazing oder?

All in all it was a great experience roaming around the City of Salzburg. Enjoying places at the same time enjoying Austrian Cuisine. At the top of it all, I get to enjoy the view, and I did not spend a lot of bucks and I was very satisfied what I ate.

For now this is my blog. On my next blog I will tell you my experiences in 48hrs stay in Salzburg.

For comments, suggestions and violent reactions please drop it by. Bis zum nachsten mal😊
